RIVERTOWN MAMAS

Although I have those trusty initials after my name (which stand for Certified Lactation Counselor*) and have been supporting breastfeeding women for several years, perhaps my best qualification to teach and moderate discussions about breastfeeding is the fact that I breastfed all three of my daughters (that's me with my youngest, Iris, when she was four days old). The breastfeeding process was not always easy or intuitive (in fact, it was quite challenging with my oldest daughter), but it was rewarding and an incredibly powerful means of bonding with my children.

I am passionate about what I do, but am also realistic about the challenges of modern parenting. I applaud you for considering breastfeeding your child, whether you plan to breastfeed for one day or one year (or longer!). My goal is to help you nourish your baby in whatever way feels right to you, which may include supplementing with infant formula now or in the future. (Read what my clients have to say about working with me on the testimonials page; helpful articles about common breastfeeding difficulties are available on my blog.)

I offer new mom/breastfeeding support in three ways:

  1. Via one-on-one, in-person appointments in your home. I begin by discussing your pregnancy and birth, talk through questions and concerns you may have about you and your baby (about nursing or any aspect of baby care), and when baby is ready, observe a feeding and offer recommendations and gentle guidance. The visit is beneficial for moms having difficulty with nursing and for those who feel things are going well but want to make sure. The initial consultation is $130 for a 90-minute visit plus two follow-up phone calls. If additional in-person appoinments are requested, they are $85 each. Please call me at 917.209.1573 or send me an email to request an appointment. I see clients 7 days a week, and am typically able to meet with you in your home within 24-48 hours. An extra fee may apply for visits outside of a 10 mile radius of Dobbs Ferry.
  2. Not sure if an in-home visit is necessary but have questions? I offer 15 minutes of complimentary guidance via telephone. If our discussion continues beyond 15 minutes, I charge $30 per 30 minutes of additional time. (As an example, the fee for a 45-minute conversation would be $30; between 46 and 75 minutes would be $60.) I will send an invoice via email after our conversation ends; however, if you decide during the call that an in-home visit is necessary, there is no fee for the phone call. Again, I can be reached at 917.209.1573 or send me an email to request a telephone appointment.
  3. Through our new moms' discussion group for moms of newborns up to 12 months old. It is a wonderful way to meet other new moms with similarly-aged children, and to receive breastfeeding support in a group setting.

For expecting mamas planning to breastfeed, I offer a private breastfeeding class. Call me at 917.209.1573 or send me an email to schedule your class.
